How do I change my password?

Generally, once a password has been created for your JHED ID, it is active for six months.  After six months, the password expires, and you will receive notification requiring a password change. You may change the expired password by following the instructions provided. However, if you want to change your password for other reasons, and the password has not yet expired, follow the instructions below.

To Change Your Password

1. Go to the myJH homepage at and click Login.



2. On the subsequent Enterprise Authentication screen, enter your JHED Login ID and Password.


3. Once logged in, click the myProfile icon, located near the top left of the screen.



4. Within myProfile, click the Change Password link.



5. Before you create a new password, you must verify your JHED ID and the text in the image captcha. Once complete, click the Continue button. If you are visually impaired or require assistance, dial (410) 516-4357 for assistance.


6. Enter your current password, then create a new password following these rules:

  • Password must contain at least one character from three of these four categories: 
  1. Uppercase A through Z
  2. Lowercase a through z
  3. Numbers 0 through 9
  4. Special characters `~!@#$%^&*()_-+={}[]\|:;"'<>,.?/
  • Password must be at least 8 characters long but not more than 40 characters long
  • Password cannot contain the JHED ID or parts of your name
  • Password must be different from four most recent used passwords
  • Password expires in 182 days
  • Password can be changed at any time


7. You may also be prompted to update your Security Questions. When complete, click the Change Password and Set Security Questions button.


8. Your password has been successfully changed.
